Compare Incohearent and What Do You Meme? Gif Edition to find the funnier adult party game for your group. We break down the trade-offs in humor style, replay value, and group fit.
Quick answer
Incohearent is funnier if your group loves wordplay, shouting out loud, and the thrill of decoding gibberish together. What Do You Meme? Gif Edition is funnier if your group prefers visual humor, captioning memes, and creating shareable moments. The right choice depends on whether your friends are puzzle solvers or meme makers.
Humor style: gibberish decoding vs meme captioning
Incohearent challenges players to read a string of nonsense words out loud and figure out the hidden phrase. For example, saying “thirds teeth or stay” slowly reveals “third degree.” This kind of humor is interactive and often hilarious because everyone hears the gibberish differently. The laughter comes from the struggle to decode and the surprise when the answer clicks.
What Do You Meme? Gif Edition works differently. Players caption a photo or GIF with the funniest caption card from their hand. The humor is visual and relies on your group’s shared sense of memes and pop culture. It’s less about solving a puzzle and more about creating a punchline that lands with your friends.
Replay value and content freshness
Incohearent’s second edition includes 100% new content, making it a fresh experience even if you’ve played the original. The game relies on a finite set of cards, but the challenge of decoding never gets old because the same phrase can stump different groups in different ways. Once you know all the answers, though, the puzzle element fades.
What Do You Meme? Gif Edition comes with 300 caption cards and 75 photo cards, plus an easel for display. The variety of photo cards and the rotating caption hand keep each round unpredictable. However, repeated play with the same group may lead to familiar captions and photos, reducing the surprise factor over time.
Group size and energy level
Incohearent works best with 3 or more players and thrives on group participation. The game encourages everyone to read out loud, guess, and react, which creates a high-energy, loud atmosphere. It’s ideal for parties where people are already talking and laughing together.
What Do You Meme? Gif Edition also requires 3+ players but can feel more turn-based because one player judges the best caption each round. This structure works well for groups that enjoy a mix of creativity and competition, but it may slow down the energy if players take too long to choose a caption.
